Let us first understand where the aircraft fuel tank is.
A typical aircraft usually has three fuel tanks, a central fuel tank, a left main fuel tank, and a right main fuel tank. In addition, there are ventilating tanks on both sides of the wing. Some large aircraft, such as the Airbus A380, also have trim tanks on the flat tail.
Aircraft fuel is much higher than car fuel
The fuel of the aircraft is much higher than the fuel used in our daily cars. The aviation kerosene used on the aircraft has a high viscosity, so that water and pollutants hang in the fuel and will not sink to the bottom. In addition, in order to improve the antiknock and anti-ice properties, aviation fuels also need to add various additives.
What is the composition of the aircraft fuel system?
The aircraft’s fuel system is mainly composed of fuel tank ventilation system, fueling / pumping system, emergency oil drain system, fuel supply system, measurement and display system and so on.
Will the jet fuel flow everywhere in the flight?
The aircraft’s fuel tank will continue to be subdivided after being divided into three parts. For example, the fuel tank on the wing usually passes through the frame of multiple wings, and each frame becomes a small fuel tank, which blocks each other. There is a small one-way valve between each frame to ensure that the fuel does not overflow.
How does the plane refuel?
The aircraft is usually refueled by a ground fuel truck. The staff will connect the aircraft refueling hose to the fuel filler port at the wing end and refuel through the operation of the fueling panel.
