Rubber hose Selection standard
To choose a suitable pipe for a specific use, at least focus on these basic points.
Pressure – suction
When you determine the pressure, consider the sudden pressure changes. Because if it exceed a critical value, it will damage the normal service life of the rubber hose.
Medium of the rubber hose
Make sure the features, name, temp as well as state (liquid, solid, gas) of the medium. When the medium is solid, it is to know the particle size, density and quantity. You should also know the flow rate and flow rate of the liquid carrying the solid medium.
Working condition
Know the location of use, temp, humidity as well as exposure condition. Because some factors such as UV rays, ozone, seawater and chemicals can cause early degradation of flexible rubber hoses.
Mechanical stress
Identify the bend radius and any stresses refer to pull, torsion, bending and vibration.
Exterior layer wear
The rubber pipe has good wear resistance. But vibration, corrosion or drag can cause damage to the hose. Thus you need to protect the hose. For example, you can use a spiral guard to prevent wear.
Work location
Know if you need to suspend or submerge hose. Or you need to set it on the ground.
Use or predict connections
Choose based on these aspects as follow:
Rubber hose fitting and flange: type, size, thread type, reference standard and the type of usage.
Joint core: inner diameter, outer diameter and length;
Sockets/Crimps: Type and Size.
To ensure good property, ensure the fitting fits the rubber hose well. The working pressure of the hose assembly must meet standard.
Technical standard
Comply with relevant technical standard. For special purpose hoses, supplier should offer the instruction.
Mark
Rubber hose supplier routinely mark hoses with information for proper use of the product.
