Cracks in rubber hoses are very common. While there are two reasons that cause cracks. One is that the rubber hose has oxidized after a long time of use. Then the other is that the working pressure is higher than the actual use pressure of the rubber hose. Most broken hoses that need to repair are due to aging. However, Orientflex does not recommend you repairing cracks on the hose. Because each of the hose itself has a certain service life. Besides, the accident will be easy to occur. Therefore, if you continue use the repaired broken high pressure rubber hose, there will be huge safety risk.
However, there is a bonding method to repair the high pressure rubber hose
When a rubber hose with a pressure between 2.5-8MPa breaks, you can use bonding method. Wipe the area around the rupture of the hose. Then use one of the oxygen resin glue, 801 glue or “502” glue. While the length of the glue is about 2-3 times the length of the fractured part. After that, use tape or canvas strips to wrap the glued area 4-5 layers. And each layer should be coated with glue. Then tie the two ends of the wrapped tape and canvas strip into a tight knot. Then wait for it to solidify for 15-20 minutes before use.
