The difference between PE pipe and PVC pipe

PE is a polyethylene plastic, the most common type of plastic. PE pipe is also called high-density polyethylene pipe. It has the characteristics of high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non-toxicity and wear resistance. It is used in the field of water supply and drainage and water supply pipe manufacturing. Because it does not rust, it is an ideal pipe to replace the ordinary iron water supply pipe.

The main component of PVC is polyvinyl chloride. Adding other ingredients can enhance its heat resistance, toughness and ductility. The PVC pipe is made of polyvinyl chloride resin, stabilized with a stabilizer, a lubricant, etc., and is extruded by hot pressing. It is the first plastic pipe to be developed and applied. PVC pipe has strong corrosion resistance, easy bonding, low price and hard texture. But it is only suitable for water supply systems with a delivery temperature not exceeding 45.

1. PE pipe contains only two elements of hydrocarbon and has good hygienic performance. PVC contains heavy metals such as lead, and the hygienic performance is slightly worse. But, the hygienic performance of PVC pipe with calcium and zinc stabilizer is also combined with national sanitary standard GB/T17219.

2. The PE pipe is connected by hot melt, and the connection is more firm. The small diameter of the PVC pipe is connected by a thread, and the large diameter is connected by a rubber ring. And the connection safety performance is slightly worse, but the construction cost is lower.

3. Under the same pressure, the wall thickness of the PE pipe is thicker and the price is more expensive. while the PVC is thinner and cheaper.

4, PE pipe besides to water supply can also be used in gas transportation and other fields. PVC pipe can also be used for drainage. due to the flame retardant insulation properties can also be applied to the flame-retardant threading field.
In summary, PE pipes are more suitable for drainage and water supply projects. PVC is more suitable for indoor use.
